Julie Walsh

My research interests grew from my practice experience in youth and community work and include: ‘family’ and social change; cross-cultural constructions of 'family’; the state settlement with families; collaborative qualitative methodologies.
My current research aims to understand culturally located family practices, professional conceptualisations of ‘family’, and if/how this is affected by broader narratives; I am the PI for the project, "Everyday Bordering' in the UK: The impact on social care practitioners and the migrant families with whom they work" (ESRC-ES/SO15833/1). This aims to examine if/how UK immigration policy impacts of the everyday lives of migrant families and social care practitioners.

My hopes and aspirations for EuroFam-Net are that the network will:
• Support the development of current and future international research collaborations.
