Peer learning has extensively been used in education to facilitate and maximise students’ academic performance.
However, the use of peer-assisted learning/mentoring (PALM) as an inclusive learning strategy in undergraduate education to support multilingual students’ transition into higher education (HE) and enhance their wellbeing in the post-Covid era has not been widely explored.
Lecturers express their concern regarding the additional mental health issues – due to the Covid-19 pandemic – that an increasing number of students in HE are facing lately.

Women in Involuntary Bogus Self-Employment Project Sep 7 2023 - 11:22am

The aim of this empirical study is to understand the impact of involuntary false self-employment on female educators’ job satisfaction and well-being in the public educational sector in Cyprus and unravel the barriers that mothers with school-age children still face.
Through an online questionnaire and semi-structured interviews, data were collected from 43 respondents. Drawing on the work and family conflict theory, this study reports that female educators still resort to bogus self-employment as the only means to support their families.

The aim of the current approach was to enhance all (400+) L4 students’ leaning experience and improve their academic performance and motivation to learn by using a powerful technology-enhanced learning approach (DS) and an inclusive formative assessment strategy (ICGA). Despite increased research on formative assessment, few studies report on lecturers’ formative assessment practices in EAP.
This study will explore EAP lecturers’ inclusive formative assessment practices in Higher Education using lengthy semi-structured interviews, observations, and opportunity and snowball sampling.
It may unravel that EAP lecturers need training to develop even further their inclusive formative assessment literacy and support the increasingly diverse student cohorts in HEI in the UK due to globalisation.

Dynamic and Inclusive Multilingual Assessment for Sustainable Development in Higher Education (DIMA for HESD) Sep 7 2023 - 11:19am

The DIMA for HESG project (2022-2023) is a year-long project, in terms of which I will implement a multilingual approach toward comprehension in assessment (MACA) that has first been explored by Shohamy (2011) combined with a dynamic assessment approach (DA) that has been developed within the Vygotskian sociocultural theory of learning (Vygotsky, 1978).
It will be used with 50 undergraduate students at GSBL. This project will explore the value of peer mediation in the context of academic writing skills’ development among undergraduate BA students in blended learning.
