Secondary schools in Greece and Cyprus welcome numerous refugees and migrants from various countries. These young learners often complain that they would have performed better in their tests, exams and coursework if their teachers would have allowed them to use their mother tongue, English (second/foreign language to most teenagers due to their engagement in online gaming) and the target language (Greek/Cypriot Greek) when they tried to make sense of the instructions for their assignments, the theories involved and the assessment criteria.

Finance is an area still dominated by men despite figures indicating the opposite. This study wishes to investigate why women would work in investment banking (IB), but not progress into professional roles. Eighteen female employees in three banks in London were interviewed, to explore how gender diversity could be tackled within the sector. The research revealed that senior management teams (SMTs) avoid hiring women as managers because they have to “interrupt” their career due to maternity and are often unable to reconcile their family commitments with the long working hours required.

Despite increased research on gender inequality in the academy, few papers report on how it manifests within precarious work in Higher Education (HE), especially amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. This multiple case study explored 34 academics’ experiences of precarity in 3 universities in London to unravel the challenges for these women using lengthy semi-structured interviews and opportunity and snowball sampling. It unravelled that it has intensified insecurities and discriminations - particularly for female academics - stemming from the neoliberal restructuring of the HE sector in Europe.

In the present study, Virtual Professional and Academic Learning Communities (VPALC) were used to offer academic, technical (IT), psychological, and reflective support to undergraduate final-year Business students in the UK with the aim of meeting their needs for sustainable learning development, networking, training and professional growth through peer support and interaction with experienced professionals in the post-Covid-19 era.

The present study explored the use of an Inclusive Formative Assessment Practices (IFAP) scheme with undergraduate Business students. In terms of this project, 200 students were asked to used formative peer assessment (PA) in their first semester and self-assessment (SA) in their second semester to help them improve their writing performance, self-regulation, and motivation promoting sustainable learning development (SLD) and Social Justice. Students’ pre-test and post-test scores showed that the scheme improved students’ writing performance.

Responding to students’ request for the use of digitally-enhanced formative assessment practices, this project used a dynamic assessment approach that has been developed within the Vygotskian sociocultural theory of learning. It aimed to develop students’ professional skills, i.e., digital skills, in blended learning by promoting experiential learning, improve students’ writing performance and favourable attitudes towards learning and support their well-being in HEI especially in the post-Covid-19 era Fifty final year students participated in this project as part of their module.

According to the literature, there are very few long-term studies which have implemented more than one formative assessment methods in Higher Education (HE) and more to explore their impact on students’ motivation and writing performance. Moreover, very few long-term studies, if any, have actually conducted research in HE using a mixed methods approach. The aim of the current study was to enhance students’ motivation and writing performance and ensure that no student is left behind irrespective of their background.
