Andy is a qualified children and families social worker with more than 30 years post qualification experience. He has worked in the statutory sector and also the not-for-profit sector – including managing a family support programme for 8 years.

He spent six years working in universities as a senior lecturer and then as head of department. His areas of teaching included family support, youth justice and the history of childhood.

He has been involved in helping the city of Leeds (UK) become a child friendly city and is committed to ensuring that the voice of the child and young person is both heard and also that their voice has influence in decision making.

Andy now works across the UK helping local authorities and others develop their working practice with children and families.
