About

I am a linguist working with bilingual and multilingual population in Cyprus. One of the areas of my research is on family language policy (FLP), heritage and or minority language use, maintenance and transmission, especially in migrant, mixed-marriage families. So far I have tried to investigate translanguaging practices of bilingual/multilingual children and their parents in Cyprus, at home, at school and in the society. Multilingual families are in the scope of our research. Using parental written questionnaires with the focus on general background, socio-economic status and language proficiency, as well as oral semi-structured interviews, our study attempts to describe how family language policy (FLP) is managed through translanguaging and literacy activities in multilingual families in cultural and linguistic environment of Cyprus.
