Exploring the use of video and intercultural group assessment to foster Social Justice and promote intercultural communication i

Information

Student-generated videos (SGV) are a new form of assessment that has increasingly been used in Higher Education (HE) to enhance students’ engagement and intercultural awareness (Thomas & Marks, 2014). Moreover, intercultural group assessment (IGA) has not been widely explored as a means to promote Social Justice in the diverse student cohorts in today’s plurilingual Business Schools (United Nations, 1948, p. 132). The current study explored students’ perceptions of IGA and videos as two innovative assessment methods which were used to implement London Metropolitan University’s Education for Social Justice Framework at GSBL and support our international students and those who have a minority ethnic background, i.e., BAME students. The current presentation will indicate ways in which lecturers can use SGV and IGA as assessment strategies to increase students’ other-awareness and intercultural competence in HE (Meletiadou, 2022a; 2022b) and increase their engagement by using a technology-enhanced approach (SGV) to allow students, especially BAME, develop a range of skills.
